"And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee." Psalm 39:7 (KJV)

There's something about a Monday morning that has a way of laying it all bare. The week stretches out ahead of you, full of unknowns, unfinished things, and maybe a few worries you carried over from last week. And somewhere in the middle of all that noise, the question slips in quietly: What am I actually holding on to?

David knew that feeling. In Psalm 39, he's not writing from a comfortable place. He's wrestling. He's watching his life feel fleeting, his plans come unraveled, and his strength run thin. And yet, right in the middle of all that honest wrestling, he lands on something solid. My hope is in thee.
Not in the plan working out. Not in the circumstances shifting. Not in people finally coming through. In Thee.

The prophet Jeremiah echoes this same anchor when he writes, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end" (Jeremiah 29:11, KJV). That word "expected end," in the Hebrew it literally means a future and a hope. God is telling a people in exile, in one of the lowest seasons of their history, that He hasn't forgotten the plans He has for them. And friend, He hasn't forgotten yours either.

Here's what that means practically: You don't have to have it all figured out today. You don't have to see the end of the road to take the next step. Hope in God isn't wishful thinking, it's a settled confidence that the One who holds your tomorrows is good, and He is working, even when you can't see it.
So today, when the weight of the week tries to press in, turn that weight into a prayer. Let the unknown become an invitation to trust. Choose, deliberately and purposefully, to rest your hope in Him and not in your own ability to manage the outcome.

"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God." Psalm 43:5 (KJV)

Hi, I'm Ryan Vanderford, and I'm so glad you're here. For over a decade, I've had the incredible privilege of serving as the pastor of Hope Chapel, a community built on faith, love, and the belief that hope is never out of reach. Ministry is more than a calling for me. It's a daily reminder that God meets us right where we are. Through every season of life, the highs and the hard days, I've seen firsthand what hope can do in a person's heart, and that's what A Moment of Hope is all about. My prayer is that this little corner of the internet feels like a warm cup of coffee and an encouraging word from a friend. Whether you're walking closely with God or just beginning to find your way, you belong here. So pull up a chair. Let's find hope together.
