“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:19 (KJV)

Every season of life carries a sound. There are songs tied to victory, heartbreak, revival, and moments we never forget. That is because songs carry testimony. Throughout scripture, God’s people used songs to preserve truth and declare His faithfulness from one generation to the next. Your song is not just what you sing, your song is what your life declares.

Psalm 40:3 says: “And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God…”
Many of the greatest songs in scripture came after difficult seasons. Israel sang after crossing the Red Sea. Hannah sang after years of barrenness. Paul and Silas worshipped from a prison cell. The song often comes after the struggle.

Sometimes God allows pressure because pressure reveals what is truly inside of us. Anybody can praise when life is easy, but worship sounds different when it comes from someone who has survived pain and still believes God is faithful.

One of the greatest hymns ever written was It Is Well With My Soul. Horatio Spafford wrote those words after losing his daughters in a tragic shipwreck. Most people would have written bitterness, but instead he wrote worship. That is the power of revelation.

Colossians 3:16 reminds us that hymns and spiritual songs teach truth. What comes out of us during hard seasons reveals what truly lives inside of us. Paul and Silas did not respond to suffering with fear or complaint. Worship came out because worship was already in them.

The enemy understands the power of a believer who still knows how to worship after battle. That is why hell fights your confidence, your testimony, and your praise so aggressively. Some people used to worship freely, but disappointment, exhaustion, grief, or unanswered prayers slowly silenced their song. Yet God is still calling people back to worship. Your praise cannot be based on conditions. It must be based on revelation. You do not praise because everything is perfect. You praise because God is still faithful.

Revelation 5:9 says heaven sings a “new song.” There is a worship only redeemed people can offer because only redeemed people know what it feels like to be restored, forgiven, and delivered. Every day you are writing a song with your life. The question is: what is your life declaring about God?

At Hope Chapel UPC, we believe God is restoring worship, testimony, and spiritual confidence in this generation. If you are searching for a church in Olive Branch MS or a Pentecostal church near Memphis TN, we would love to invite you to worship with us at Hope Chapel UPC.

Hi, I'm Ryan Vanderford, and I'm so glad you're here. For over a decade, I've had the incredible privilege of serving as the pastor of Hope Chapel, a community built on faith, love, and the belief that hope is never out of reach. Ministry is more than a calling for me. It's a daily reminder that God meets us right where we are. Through every season of life, the highs and the hard days, I've seen firsthand what hope can do in a person's heart, and that's what A Moment of Hope is all about. My prayer is that this little corner of the internet feels like a warm cup of coffee and an encouraging word from a friend. Whether you're walking closely with God or just beginning to find your way, you belong here. So pull up a chair. Let's find hope together.
